So,
you think you are hot as a long range shooter?
Come and prove your mettle at our first ever long range shooting competition under real field conditions.
You can
boast about hits on the range all you like -- that is just bluster. This
competition is the real deal.
You
won't be sitting at a bench or shooting at known distances or on a flat firing
line.
This competition is limited to 308 Win caliber. Minimum of 10 shooters, maximum of 20 shooters.
Here's a description of the competition:
Shooting at targets at unknown distances Shooting at targets of both known and unknown sizes
Extreme downhill shooting Acquisition of multiple targets
Shooting in teams for combined team score Non-flat, non-standard firing line
(if you don't have a team-mate, we will match you up with someone)
Calling adjustments for your team-mate through another rifle scope
Varying limitations on rifle support (sandbags, packs, bipods, slings, only your body)
Varying time limits to determine multiple target ranges and to take the shots
Shooting in the wind without artificial wind indicators, such as flags
Getting on target without free spotter rounds

bolt action rifles only in 308 Win caliber Electronic
ranging systems prohibited
optical scope with a ranging system inside the reticle
Rifle slings that loop around the
arm prohibited
standard rifle slings only Spotting scopes prohibited
50 rounds of match grade ammunition Mechanical/electronic angle indicators prohibited
We will rendezvous at 6am on the day of the competition in Mojave, CA, and carpool to the shooting location.
If you need a ride, we should be able to match you up
and get you and your equipment into the shooting area.
Each member of the winning teams will receive specially minted challenge coins,
designed after the coins that military snipers use to identify each other:
1st place: ersatz gold 2nd place: ersatz silver 3rd place: bronze
(Six -- 6 -- winner coins will be awarded).
